Academic education does play some role for personality development. However its effect is limited.

Reading and thinking is the key for making your brian be your own one.

Research & Work

Bioinformatics

I worked in bioinformatics during my undergraduate study in Biocomputing Research Lab, Dept of Computer Science at Harbin Institute of Technology. It was a great experience to work on something you are interested in. We worked together with Dept of Physics at University of Manchester on the simulation work from cardiac cells uptowards human heart.

Machine Learning

Machine Learning is a sub field of artificial intelligence. I'm currently working under the direction of Dr Greg Hamerly on clustering algorithms. Specifically, I'm interests in active learning which originates from unsupervised learning and involves prior knowledge for clustering problems. I'm also very insterested in clustering algorithm based on spectral graph theory. This is the area where I'm working on for my thesis.

ICPC HQService

Dept. of computer science at Baylor University is the headquater of ACM ICPC. I'm working as HQService in ICPC lab under the direction of Dr Jeff Donahoo.

Other interests

Mathmatics

Mathmatics always attracts me because it is the origin and foundation of science. It is a field where you can always feel and touch the truth and the logic of the world.

Astronomy

Always dream to be Captain Cook on the Enterprise. It is something that keep bringing you to the unknowns. Exploring the unknowns is the way people can feel their existence.
