The Story of The Rose

The Rose is the name of a set of shapes that result from graphing the equation r = sin (n t) in polar coordinates. In this equation, t is an angle, n is an arbitrary integer that gives the frequency of the sine wave, and r is the radius, or more simply, the distance from the origin. Here are some roses.

r = sin(t) r = sin(2t) r = sin(3t)
r = sin(4t) r = sin(5t) r = sin(6t)

If n is odd, the rose has n petals, if n is even, it has 2n petals.
